Tips

In late September 2015, a survey by "60 millions de consommateurs" (a French lobby) highlighted that over 50% of cosmetics contain undesirable ingredients for health. An impressive figure that invites to read labels carefully, but above all to understand...

Try to understand

Looks like another, “Knowledge is power” and at the risk of breaking your optimistic view of things, all cosmetics are not necessarily good for your health… For quality products, the best solution then remaining boycott dangerous products and to support good practice.

To do this, they must then read labels and be vigilant… This is already the trend since learned this summer that nearly 6 in 10 US become aware of the list of ingredients before buying a cosmetic product.

Focus research

To understand the labels of cosmetic products, no need to be a doctor in pharmacy or chemistry… Yes, it is not necessary to understand everything, we must first know where to look. In fact, when you read a label, know that the ingredients are hierarchical, from most to least present. Without going to limit your search to only 3 or 4 first ingredients in the list, this trick should allow you to compare products between them.

Avoid certain products

In cosmetics, researches now provide a list of products to avoid. The main ingredients are fleeing:

– Parabens are chemical preservatives suspected of being endocrine disruptors and carcinogenic
– Phthalates that are suspected of promoting male sterility and disrupt hormonal development in women
– Silicones which, beyond their impact on the environment, suffocate the skin and scalp
– The petrochemical derivatives which include PPG, PEG, the polypropylenes or paraffin

Focus on organic

As a brand of dermo-cosmetic bio, we can only recommend you to trust the labeling of organic products. However, it should not be your only indicator for each product, be sure to read the label carefully. Indeed, in cosmetics as for the rest, abuses are common and encountered some riddled with harmful ingredients labeled products.

Finally, if you keep bad memories of your college Latin course, know that you can lean on it when reading a label; the Latin words all refer to natural ingredients. An example? Our favorite “Algae” for the algae 😉
