Alga-Gorria®

On the Basque coast, red algae (Gelidium sesquipedale) battles the sun, tides, and strong currents every day.
To survive, it has developed its own defence mechanisms: powerful natural protections against external aggressions.

Marine algae inspire our R&D team, who have turned them into a true source of exclusive active ingredients for Laboratoires de Biarritz.
Our team has identified unique, skin-beneficial properties in red algae. Following a specific extraction process and extensive research & testing, this powerful active ingredient, Alga-Gorria®, was created and patented by our R&D team. 

Born from this understanding of nature and science, Alga-Gorria® is a patented marine treasure derived from the red algae, rich in antioxidants. Alga-Gorria® helps neutralise free radicals and contributes to limiting the effects of oxidative stress caused by external aggressions such as pollution, stress, fatigue, smoking and blue light from digital screens. This oxidative stress is a key factor in skin ageing.

This patented active ingredient has been tested in vitro by an independent laboratory to demonstrate its powerful antioxidant properties.

Hyaluronic Acid

Every day, the skin needs an adequate level of hydration, regardless of its type (normal, dry, combination, oily).  
Hyaluronic acid is a key ally for well-hydrated skin. It acts as a water reservoir, providing immediate and long-lasting hydration.

Rigorously selected by our R&D team, we have chosen a medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid.
This molecular weight offers the ideal balance:
– it delivers effective hydration both on the surface and deeper within the skin,
– it helps prevent the appearance of the first fine lines,
– it offers optimal skin-tolerance. 

This 100% naturally derived hyaluronic acid is obtained through the biofermentation of wheat.
Using micro-organisms cultivated in a sugar-rich plant environment, this process - known as white biotechnology - produces pure hyaluronic acid without the use of petrochemical ingredients.

It is a natural, sustainable and controlled method that transforms a renewable resource, wheat, into a highly hydrating active ingredient. With a high yield between raw material and finished active, this process generates minimal waste and requires limited water and energy.

Well-designed Packaging

Eco-design has been a core conviction and a long-standing ambition for Laboratoires de Biarritz since its creation over 10 years ago. With deep respect for nature - and the ocean in particular - we develop our products with the ongoing aim of minimising their environmental impact as much as possible.

Each packaging solution is selected based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including carbon footprint, actual recyclability, mono-material structure, weight, formula stability, logistics, user experience, etc.
Our in-house eco-design tool allows us to assess each option and choose the packaging with the lowest environmental impact. 

The From Biarritz range is packaged in recycled and recyclable plastic. Plastic is not a virgin material and is lighter than glass, resulting in lower transport-related emissions. This is a concrete step towards supporting the recycling industry and giving existing plastic a meaningful second life.
