Alga-Gorria®

Off the Basque coast, a unique red algae (Gelidium sesquipedale) sways in the sun, tides, and currents day in, day out.
To survive, it had to create its own defenses: powerful natural shields against a harsh environment.

Marine algae have long inspired our R&D team, who’ve turned them into Laboratoires de Biarritz treasure chest of exclusive active ingredients.
In red algae, our team identified a set of unique properties with genuine benefits for the skin. Through a special extraction process and after extensive testing, a powerful active ingredient, Alga-Gorria®, was created and patented by our R&D experts. 

Alga-Gorria® was thus born of a unique blend of the intelligence of the natural world and science. It is a gift from the underwater world, a patented antioxidant-rich red algae extract. 
Alga-Gorria® helps neutralize free radicals and helps limit the effects of oxidative stress caused by external factors like pollution, physiological stress, fatigue, smoking, and the blue light emitted by screens. This oxidative stress is a key factor in skin aging. 

Our patented active ingredient has undergone in-vitro testing by an independent laboratory, confirming its strong antioxidant power.

Hyaluronic Acid

The skin needs enough hydration every day, no matter its nature (normal, dry, oily, or combination).  
Hyaluronic acid is a key ally for deeply hydrated skin. It acts like a reservoir of water, delivering immediate and long-lasting hydration.

Through a deliberate and careful process, our R&D selected a medium molecular-weight hyaluronic acid to deploy. 
This molecular weight offers the ideal balance:
– providing effective hydration at the surface and in the deeper layers,
– helping prevent the appearance of early fine lines,
– offering optimal tolerance. 

This hyaluronic acid is 100% natural in origin, and is produced by wheat biofermentation.
Using microorganisms cultivated in a sugar-rich plant medium, this “white biotechnology” process produces pure hyaluronic acid with no reliance on petrochemicals.
It’s a natural, sustainable, and fully controlled method that transforms a renewable resource, wheat, into a highly hydrating active ingredient. This high-yield process, from raw material to finished hyaluronic acid, generates very little waste and uses minimal water and energy.

Commited Packaging

Eco-design has always been a core belief and a driving ambition for us at Laboratoires de Biarritz since the brand's founding over 10 years ago. Deeply respectful of nature’s resources, and especially the ocean, we vigilantly develop our products with the intention of keeping their environmental impact as light as possible.

We select our packaging through a careful process, considering an exhaustive array of criteria (carbon footprint, true recyclability, mono-material design, weight, formula stability, logistics, user experience…). 
Our in-house eco-design tool allows us to analyze every option to select the one with the lowest possible environmental impact. 

The Biarritz range uses recycled and recyclable plastic. This plastic is not first-use material, and it’s lighter than glass, which helps reduce emissions during transport. It’s a concrete way to support the recycling industry and give a second life to existing plastic.
