With the sun reaching its zenith and rising temperature, more and more skin is showing. Here is the right way to use a scrub so you can casually show off skin as smooth as it is radiant.
Why should you exfoliate?
The skin is an incredible organ that interacts with the world both outside and inside our bodies. It is composed of three layers including the epidermis, the outermost. Keratinocytes, epidermal cells, are being perpetually renewed. They take 21 to 28 days to migrate from the deepest layers to the surface of the skin (also called stratum corneum) and end up forming what we call dead skin. Their renewal is natural and constant but, with time, it can take a little longer. In the long run, the skin becomes less supple and dull. Exfoliating regularly, once to twice a week, promotes better cellular renewal. But that is not all, the mechanical effect of the beads and the massage also helps to restart microcirculation and boost cells as much as the natural production of collagen and elastin. The skin is then softer, but also glows and looks firmer.
How Do You Scrub Right?
To exfoliate the body, it is better to use a body-specific product because the beads will be larger and thus slightly more abrasive than a facial scrub. With small, soft circular movements, you massage the skin to unblock pores and smooth the epidermis.
Our Body Scrub is made with perlite, or volcanic sand, for a super exfoliating effect boosted by revitalizing Rock Samphire and tonifying Alaria esculenta (brown seaweed). Do not hesitate to start from the feet (including the heels) up to the shoulders to stimulate circulation of the blood as a bonus. In normal circumstances, it should be performed once to twice a week. In the summer, when more exposed to the sun, it is better to reduce exfoliation or even stop it until the end of the holidays. This will avoid making it more sensitive, as it is already very solicited by UV rays, the sand, chlorine, or saltwater.
What do you do after using a scrub?
Once the skin is perfectly smoothed out and reinvigorated by the scrubbing, remember to moisturize. Indeed, even if the formulas are gentle and nourishing, an extra dose of moisturization is always welcome, to soothe and form a protective layer. Do not hesitate to massage it in to improve penetration and improve microcirculation all the way. Make your skin glow all over!
