The Legendary Biarritz Lighthouse

Biarritz lighthouse watches over the city from a grassy platform perched 75 meters above the Atlantic Ocean, Saint Martin Point. A majestic promontory separating Biarritz and neighboring Anglet, its strategic emplacement provides stunning views of the two cities’ beaches. Constructed in 1830 to guide navigators, it has become a site of choice for walking, photography, and contemplation. Accessible from the Impératrice Lookout, this place between ocean and earth will give an unforgettable experience.

Chambre d’Amour Beach

Anglet’s “Chambre d’Amour,” or the “Room of Love,” certainly has a romantic name! Named after the Chambre d’Amour Grotto, where two lovers living a forbidden romance perished in one of the Bay of Biscay’s characteristic sudden storms, the beach will provide a romantic setting for a date or fun night with friends. Located between the Biarritz lighthouse and Anglet’s beaches, the sound of the Atlantic Ocean waves rumbling ashore will rhythm your evening.

The Incredible Rocher de la Vierge

Like a ship at sea, the Rocher de la Vierge (“The Virgin’s Rock”) is probably the most extraordinary place on the Basque Coast for watching the sunset, weather permitting… A majestic Biarritz monument, its strategic location lets you take in a view spanning the entire bay of Biarritz with the Grande Plage to the North and the Basque coast to the Pyrenees Mountains to the South. No doubt, the panorama will produce memories of an absolutely singular sunset.

La Côte des Basques, the Unmissable

Between Biarritz and Bidart, the Côte des Basques (“Basque Coast”) beach is the most emblematic of the Basque Country. The birthplace of European surfing, it exudes the very essence of ocean culture and surf philosophy Nestled under tall cliffs, its kilometers of fine sand make the Côte des Basque an ideal place to enjoy a memorable Biarritz sunset..
