Sometimes, a birth doesn't go quite as planned. Besides the stress and joy of birth, the weeks following the arrival of your child can be intense. Even more so when you are recovering from a C-section. Here is some advice to take the best possible care of your scar and limit pain and feelings of tightness.

THE FIRST STEPS

You’ve just given birth to a beautiful child. In doing so, a C-section was necessary. It is a well-practiced procedure, but pay attention to the aftercare, as with any surgery. It is advisable to take certain precautions to ensure your healing process is as smooth as possible. Here are some recommendations.

After the initial 24 hours, even if it feels a bit painful, we recommend getting up and walking around a bit. This will reduce the risk of embolism or phlebitis and promote healing. With the approval and help of medical personnel, take a few steps during the day.

Whatever happens, a nurse will come to change the bandages and keep an eye on the healing of the wound once per day following the birth.
You will need to wait 5 to 10 days after the intervention to remove the stitches and begin dermatological care to help the healing process. During this period, take care to keep the area clean and dry. Use a gentle, hypoallergenic soap to cleanse it and dry it with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing or itching at the scar to reduce the risk of infection.

THE KEYS TO OPTIMAL HEALING

You are now home and taking care of yourself.

Being careful to keep the scar clean, massage the area lightly every morning. With the help of a Reparative Cream, roll the scar between your fingers, gently kneading it and lifting it upwards if you can. If it still feels too sensitive, wait a while. The objective is soften your skin, stimulate the circulation of blood, optimize the penetration of the reparative ingredients in the cream, and help the healing process in doing so. In the evening, prefer a Dry Oil that will penetrate the epidermis faster while keeping the skin hydrated all night without over-moisturizing it.

If you observe a significant change in the scar’s appearance, contact your doctor.
